ADIEU ANTIBES

For those of you who haven't heard we are heading home.  After two years in the lovely south of France we have decided enough is enough and we probably should get back to reality at some point in time.  We will miss it but as they say over here, c'est la vie!

So as of 9 September we are officially homeless and unemployed.  We both finished work at the end of August and we had our apartment packed up on Friday 9 September.  Currently we are travelling through Spain, I am sitting on the bed in a hostel in Granada as I write.  We intend on eventually heading north back through the west coast of France to Denmark, Sweden, Poland and who knows where else...?  So make sure to check the blog over the next couple of months as we will be posting more regular updates as our adventure unravels.

If all goes according to plan we will be home some time in late November.

So what have we been up to since March?  Well at the time we were thinking surprisingly little but when we think back on it actually quite a bit.  Highlights only for this post and sadly no photos because all our stuff, including the Mac with the photos, is currently in a truck, or a container or something waiting delivery to the port in Marseilles some time next month.

Key activities & events since the last post:

  • Long weekend in Paris - Loooove Paris...in springtime.
  • Weekend in Toulon - They have a mountain with a cable car.
  • We took Cathy's parents to the local ski field of Auron - Now Olivia's seen a real ski resort.
  • Cathy went to Northern Ireland - Her sister lives there.
  • Adrian found a summer job killing mosquitoes - No more mozzies left on the Riviera.
  • We've all had birthdays - That seems to happen every year.
  • Monaco Grand Prix - If you've gotta go to one GP it may as well be in Monaco.
  • A weekend in Pisa - They still haven't straightened the tower.
  • The beach is still on the other side of the wall of the port in Antibes - it's just like being on holidays every day of the week.
  • 27 days of Meade - One of the upsides of living on the Riviera.
  • Cathy's brother drove a Ferrari - lucky bugger.
  • I drove a Ferrari - lucky me.
  • Went windsurfing - Not as easy as it looks.
  • A quick whirlwind tour of the local sights before we left the area - just in case any of you ask any tricky questions when we get home.
  • Helen came for a night - We wore the wobbly shoes home that night.
  • And a bunch of blokes came and put all our stuff in the back of a truck - I hope they actually were the moving company.
So there you go.  Any questions?

Next post in a few days after our bullfight spectacular in Seville.
