When in Rome...

Grab a guided tour of the Vatican City...before it rains...

Check out the Sistine Chapel...

...where you're not supposed to take photos...

...pay attention to and obey the signs...

...wonder at the size & wetness of St Peter's Square...

...move inside St Peter's Basilica to get out of the rain...

..go to confession in St Peter's...

...get lost in the rain...

...but stumble across something you never thought you would see in the middle of Rome...

...find the Parthenon...in the rain...

...and go inside but only because it's the only place out of the rain...

...trek up to the Colosseum...in the rain...

...and take the guided tour...

...wander through the Roman Forum...in the rain...

...find somewhere to eat at Piazza Venezia...

...preferably indoors...

...drop back up to the Colosseum for some evening shots...

...and the next day go back to St Peter's...

...because the sun is shining...

...and you can climb all the way to the top, including 230 steps...

...you have to take a photo of the Swiss Guards, just because...

...go and hang out with the Sunday locals at the Spanish Steps...

...commission a portrait...

...say g'day to St Valentine himself...

...and chuck a couple of coins in the Trevi Fountain.

JOB DONE!!

Oh - and when not in Rome...

...go skiing - because the conditions here are just atrocious...

...but keep an eye out for snow angels!

PS - for those who are interested we went to Rome for our 2nd wedding anniversary. The flight from Nice to Rome takes 45 minutes. Why did we agree to move over here again...?
